ABB has introduced Automation Extended, a program designed to help industries modernize distributed control systems safely. Building on ABB's proven platforms and extensive DCS experience, the program allows companies to upgrade operations step by step, without interrupting production.

Modernization at Your Own Pace
Industries today face volatile markets, strict regulations, cybersecurity challenges, and a changing workforce. Automation Extended addresses these issues by enabling AI, IoT, and advanced analytics while keeping core processes stable.
Operators can continue using familiar ABB systems such as System 800xA, H&B Freelance 2000, Advant OCS and Advant-800xA, Bailey INFI 90, Master Series, Procontic CS31, and solutions for robots spare parts and industrial automation. This approach provides a safe, structured path to modernization, protecting critical processes while adding flexibility and efficiency.

Automation Extended is built on an open, modular framework designed for easy integration and scalability. The system separates the control environment from the digital environment. The control environment ensures reliable operation of mission-critical processes, while the digital environment enables advanced applications, AI, machine learning, and real-time analytics without affecting production.
A unified lifecycle management approach simplifies updates, monitoring, and spare parts management across the ecosystem. With OPC UA and cloud-native architecture, the system supports modular deployment, proactive monitoring of assets, and efficient maintenance.
